By way of a Facebook post, Sudbury’s Learning Express today announced that it would be closing at the end of January 2025:
As some are now aware, we have been unable to negotiate a sustainable lease agreement with the plaza’s new owners. As a result, after nearly 30 years of being a part of Sudbury and the nearby communities, we are closing our doors January 31, 2025. Thank you for your patronage, it has truly been a privilege to serve you.
The owners of Sudbury Plaza, where Learning Express is located, recently announced the completion of renovations to the facade throughout the plaza. Gates were recently erected in a portion of the plaza, likely in association with the proposed construction of a Chase Bank location.
Residents responded to the Facebook post with 250 reactions within two hours; and nearly 100 comments overwhelmingly voicing their disappointment in the news. Other commenters shared fond memories of shopping at the store, and taking advantage of the gift wrapping services offered at Learning Express.
Sudbury Weekly reached out to the group that manages the plaza for comment, and we will update this story if they respond.
