The Who Says I Can’t Foundation is pleased to announce its eighth annual fundraising event to help raise money to benefit adults and kids in need of prosthetics and adaptive equipment for sports.
The in-person fundraiser is on June 8th from 5 to 10 p.m. at the Historic Wayside Inn.
In addition to raising funds, The Who Says I Can’t Foundation will be honoring the four most recent program participants who received adaptive equipment. Anthony Mandra, Jaclyn Hamwey, Maya Oberstein, and Emma C. are the four recipients who will be honored at the event. Emma is a runner, Maya is a gymnast, and Anthony and Jaclyn are snowboarders currently training for the Paralympics.
Who Says I Can’t Foundation Founder Jothy Rosenberg said it is an honor to help these kids and tell their stories.
“When I tell people about these kids they are so inspired by their stories,” Rosenberg said. “These kids are amazing and we are so happy to help them achieve their athletic goals. When I lost my leg at 16 I could have used some help getting into sports and helping these kids and seeing them succeed is the reason I started this foundation.”
Rosenberg also thanked the foundation’s donors and A Step Ahead Prosthetics, which provides WSICF with prosthetics at cost.
Attendees at the live event will be treated to a dinner catered by the Wayside Inn Chefs. There will also be a cash bar and live music from the local band Untapped Potential.
A major Boston sports team mascot will also be in attendance to take photos.
There will be a silent auction, a live auction, and a 50:50 raffle with all proceeds to help the foundation provide adaptive equipment to more kids that need them.
Charity auction participants can bid on vacation travel packages from Philantopia to Belize, Costa Rica, Lisbon, and Italy. Bidders can also win a trip to the Dominican Republic provided by Posh for Purpose.
Other auction items are autographed sports and Taylor Swift memorabilia, a family photo session provided by Photos by Dee, bottles of red and white wine from Post Road Liquors, and handcrafted jewelry and crocheted blankets from Costa Rica.
Auction participants can bid at the event or bid for some of the items online from today until June 8. Participants looking to bid today can do so at this link https://www.whosaysicant.org/auction-home.

About the Who Says I Can’t Foundation
WSICF works with adults and kids with physical disabilities, including amputations and paralysis, to become involved with active sports.
To accomplish this, WSICF partners with supportive prosthetics and adaptive equipment providers for running legs, sit skis, hand cycles and much more.
WSIC provides selected participants with a grant that will cover the cost of the equipment as well as all other activity-related expenses.
About our prosthetics provider: A Step Ahead Prosthetics Boston
Former Paralympic skiing world champion Bob Emerson, C.P. has over twenty years of experience in prosthetics and is the head prosthetist at our Boston location. The way the process works is ASAP identifies someone they think is in need and is ready for our help health-wise and attitude-wise. They check to see if we have the budget for what that person will need. If we do then I talk to that person and their parents if they are underage. If that checks out, then we turn things back over to ASAP for scheduling and fitting. When they complete the work they give WSICF the best discount they can which is usually substantial and invoice us.
