Sudbury, MA (September 18, 2025) The Sudbury 250 Committee cordially invites Sudbury residents of all ages to our fall 2025 programs. The events are uniquely Sudbury and deeply rooted in the American Revolution. Each fun and festive program is FREE to the public and offers valuable insight into our nation’s history.

September 27, 2025: Colonial Faire and Muster of Fyfe & Drum
Wayside Inn Grounds
- Sudbury 250 sponsors the Colonial Faire and Muster of Fyfe & Drum with living history demonstrations of life in colonial New England.
- Join us on the grounds of the historic Longfellow’s Wayside Inn for a full day of music, muskets, history, and fun.
- 10 AM The Faire opens with a Colonial encampment, militia and crafts demonstrations, and contradancing. We expect dozens of colonial and craft vendors and 25 fife and drum corps from across New England and New York. Food is available on the field.
- 12 PM The Grand Parade of fifes and drums will begin promptly at noon and will be followed directly by a performance by each of the corps attending. The muster is a celebration rather than a competition: The corps are appearing by invitation and attend to share their music and friendship.
October 25, 2025: Battle of Red Horse Tavern
Wayside Inn Grounds
- Start the day by listening to colonial music, talking with reenactors, visiting settlers, observing cannon firing demonstrations and more. Then watch as the Colonial and British armies battle for control of the Red Horse Tavern.
- The Red Horse Tavern, sitting along the Boston Post Road, the major east-west route to and from Boston and New York state, was crucial as a place to hear the news & other current events, engage in commerce and conduct militia drills. Whichever side controlled the Tavern could control the flow of supplies, troops and information. The Redcoats are determined to wrest control, no matter the cost, while the Colonists will do all they can to stop them and send them back to Boston. Who will control the tavern? Come and find out.

Thanks to Sudbury TV and Soterios Zoulas for the Global Village’s Sudbury 250 episode where we talk about Sudbury 250 as we commemorate and celebrate our great shared experiment in self-rule and the yearning to be free. We talk about the role of the Minutemen and the upcoming Sudbury 250 events. Give it a watch!
Past 250 Committee programs include a celebration to mark the 250th anniversary of the Sudbury Minutemen march to the Battles of Lexington and Concord on 4/19/2025. On 5/18/2025, we presented, “A Revolution of Her Own,” the story of Deborah Sampson, the first woman to fight in and be honorably discharged from US Military, at Martha Mary Chapel. The committee has also presented book talks; logo, essay and art contests; interactive programs and more.
