After more than 23 years of helming the event, the core leadership team of Mike Hamill, Libby Hamill, Doug Haartz and their longtime volunteer crew are announcing that they are retiring from their positions after the 2026 parade. The Sudbury Chamber of Commerce plans to build a team of apprentices to shadow these experienced leaders in 2026 in order to prepare the new team to manage the parade in 2027.
2026 will be a pivotal year for the 4th of July Parade in Sudbury. It will be one of the many events marking the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution, which is expected to bring many visitors to our region.
“The Sudbury parade is unique. It is the only 4th of July in Greater Metrowest.,” says Parade Commander Mike Hamill. “This is a great time for Sudbury residents to come together to ensure that we continue our traditional parade now and into the future. So many people commented on how much they enjoyed the last parade. I urge them to join our new team to make the 2026 July 4 an even bigger celebration.”
The Parade leadership team has created a blueprint for parade management based on their years of experience producing the event, which the new parade team will be able to work from and build upon in the future.
In addition to expressing our deep gratitude to Mike, Libby and Doug, the Sudbury Chamber of Commerce thanks Olivia (Hamill) Plummer, Frankie Plummer, Patty Blanchette, Tom Blanchette, Mery Buono and Paul Landry for their many years of making the 4th of July parade a highlight event in Sudbury.
