Dear Chair Simon, Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School Committee, and Dr. Stephens,
On behalf of the Town of Sudbury’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Commission, we extend our sincere gratitude to Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School for your decisive, inclusive, and responsive leadership in adopting an inclusive academic calendar strategy.
We wish to specifically applaud the genuine effort and perseverance demonstrated throughout this process. We recognize that this achievement was not the result of a single vote, but of a rigorous Tri-District process involving multiple meetings, extensive deliberation, and a significant investment of time. By listening deeply to the voices, perspectives, and lived stories of our community, you have ensured that our students are truly seen and heard.
Your leadership reflects a refusal to compromise your identity as an inclusive body. By rooting the calendar in the diverse cultural and religious experiences of our families, LS has demonstrated what it means to lead with accountability. We want to stress the vital importance of not reversing on these difficult decisions. Standing firm in these commitments is essential to maintaining the trust you have built and affirming the dignity of all students.
The Tri-District collaboration allowed for meaningful contributions that strengthen the very core values of LS: cultivating community, respecting human differences, and fostering cooperative relationships. Your commitment to this process sets a powerful example for school districts across the region.
Thank you for your tireless work and for your partnership in advancing a community where every student feels valued and capable of bringing their full selves to our schools.
With appreciation,
Town of Sudbury Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Commission
