BRIDGTON, ME- Quintus Charles Wilson Jr passed peacefully at home on June 2, 2026 with family by his side. Born in Minneapolis on October 27, 1928, he spent his childhood in Saint Paul, and adulthood in Ann Arbor MI, Anaheim CA, Boulder CO, Sudbury MA, and Bridgton ME, as well as a year in Stuttgart Germany on a Fulbright scholarship.
Quint was fascinated with radios and electronics at an early age, and secured his amateur radio license as a teenager. He went on to study electrical engineering at the University of Utah, the General Electric Advanced Engineering Program, and the University of Michigan, and he made a career in designing electronics related to military communications. At different times, he held jobs at Ball Brothers, GTE Sylvania, and the MITRE Corporation, among others.
A Bugaboo Mountains hiking trip was the fortuitous place he met Marguerite (Marj) Overbeck, with whom he would later marry and raise a family. As the family grew, they enjoyed hiking, canoeing and other outdoor adventures in Colorado, Massachusetts, and Maine as well as special trips to other places.
Quint loved both cross-country skiing and archery, and enjoyed ski archery competitions at both the local and national levels, placing very high in his senior division. He found the people he got to ski and shoot with to be part of the pleasure of the sport.
After moving to Bridgton, he joined the Denmark Hikers and is featured on the cover of Allen Crabtree’s book “Go Take a Hike!” about hiking for seniors in the Western Maine area.
Quint was predeceased by his beloved wife Marj in 2008, his sister Claudia and his brother Don. He is survived by his sister, Meret, and his children Paul, David, Christopher, and Amy, as well as Paul’s wife Cynthia and Amy’s life-partner Lyle.
