Dear Kevin, your reporting in rhyme
To new journalistic heights it did climb,
You summarized well
The unanimity, which was swell
But what was missing was something sublime.
One item was left off your list.
It was something I think that you missed.
What was said in the Weekly
Took a slant that just meekly
Sidestepped a socially responsible twist.
Liberty Ledge now gives us a chance
To enrich our lives, to have fun, to enhance
The idyllic surroundings
Which in our town are abounding,
As our pleasures we enthusiastically advance.
As we plan for the use of our riches,
The woods and the pools and the fishes,
Let’s remember our neighbors
For whom Fate had no favors.
Our great democracy, it does have its glitches.
The house and the lot on Haynes Road
Should be used to help carry the load
Of affordability in housing
Which all the news is espousing.
Let’s save and re-use that abode!
We have in our town all the resources:
Two housing agencies that often join forces.
We could still have our fun,
Have our time in the sun,
While doing what “love thy neighbor” endorses.
