After a wetter than normal July, only month this year, Sudburys monthly rainfall for August was right back to below normal values with only 2.03 inches of rain. Most of that fell back on August 3rd so we are left with very dry landscapes. Generally it was also a very warm month with 4 days of 90 degree weather or warmer which brings the total for the summer to 19 days. Last year we actually had even more with 23 days at 90 degrees or higher.
Our year to date rainfall continues to lag as shown below:
2026 Year to Date Rainfall: 23.46 in.
2025 Year to Date Rainfall: 27.74 in.
2024 Year to Date Rainfall: 35.61 in.
2023 Year to Date Rainfall: 43.57 in.
Also of interest is rainfall that occurs during the summer months of June, July and August. Noted as follows:
2026 Summer: 10.81 in.
2025 Summer: 6.75 in.
2024 Summer: 10.16 in.
2023 Summer: 24.27 in.
We welcome in September today with much needed rain. Generally Septembers should give us about 4 inches of rain. Last September was 3.44 inches. Lets hope we can at least get to that number.
