Sudbury weather for September ended with a three day noreaster which yielded, over that period, 3.34 inches of rain. That helped our monthly total with 5.27 inches. But…we are still below normal for the year. Sudbury receives, on average, 48 inches of rain each year and for the most part that’s 4 inches per month. So yes we made up some ground in September but our year to date rainfall value is still only 28.71 inches vs. a normative 9 month value at 36 inches, so still roughly a 7 inch deficit.
Previous year to date values are as follows:
2026 thru September: 28.71 inches
2025 thru September: 31.18 inches
2024 thru September: 36.85 inches
2023 thru September: 48.86 inches
September had a high temperature of 84 degrees and a low temperature of 40 degrees. We only had 3 days of 80 or more and the last one was recorded on September 10th. Interesting as we may get an 80 degree day to start October. The last three Octobers were very dry with only 1.19 inches of rain in 2025. Leaves are turning as we move deeper into Fall so it’s a great time to be outdoors. But we still need rain for our landscapes.
