An experienced, collaborative leader with a history of showing up for Sudbury’s students, parents, teachers and taxpayers.
We are thrilled to heartily offer our endorsement of Allison Vanderels for Sudbury School Committee. We’ve both known Allison for many years, having met her and her family when our current middle schoolers all began Haynes School together. From the beginning, Allison has eagerly dedicated an incredible amount of time and energy serving in numerous roles advocating on behalf of Sudbury students, parents and educators.
Allison was repeatedly elected by Haynes parents to a seat on the Haynes School Council where she displayed her aptitude for collaboration, research, inclusion, advocacy and professionalism. She has many years of deeply varied experience and history grounding her in the SPS community. Her time in service of Sudbury’s working families as a parent Board Member and Chairperson of SED is a prime example of her getting her hands dirty and doing the hard work. Many in our community are rightfully critical of the lack of a fulsome solution to the after school care crisis in Sudbury. However, VERY few are willing to put themselves out there to actually strive for material change for Sudbury’s students and families. Allison answered that call.
Two of Allison’s greatest strengths are her temperament and judgement. Allison is a consummate professional who holds herself to the highest standards of ethics and collaboration. Allison is always infinitely prepared for any issue or topic, be it policy, budget, or legal related, that comes forward for her consideration. She’s jokingly known for her binders that she brings to meetings which are indexed and contain all the research she’s complied on any topic up for discussion.
As parents of numerous SPS students with various levels of need and support, we know first hand Allison’s compassion and support for all learners. Allison is a champion for all students and her support for communities of diverse learners, those in need of higher levels of support and specialized education is truly inspiring. Allison understands the importance of every student feeling safe, included and nurtured at school. She is an unwavering ally in every way.
We cannot conceive of a candidate with a better breadth of experience or temperament to advocate on behalf of Sudbury’s students, parents, educators and taxpayers. Please join us in excitedly supporting Allison with your vote for her in the race for School Committee.
