On Dec 9 the Fire Department sent its (probably) annual appeal for people to adopt a hydrant to shovel out should we actually get any significant snow. Find the article HERE.
I just did the sign up for our nearest hydrant and couldn’t help but notice the lack of joining in. Here’s a screen shot of the hundreds of hydrants that help save lives and property in case of fire. The red ones are still orphans while the green ones are happily adopted. The holiday colors are just a happy accident.
My testimonial is that I sure feel safer being sure that the hydrant close to my home will be easy and quick for our fire fighters to get going if my neighbors or I need it. And rest assured, the sign up was easy.
Maybe our friends and neighbors around town can think about that safety bump and consider pitching in by doing a few more strokes of snow shoveling.
