Event Will Follow 25th Anniversary Memorial Ceremony
STOW—The Department of Fire Services and the Red Cross of Massachusetts will hold a blood drive in Stow on the 25th anniversary of 9/11, with members of the public encouraged to take part and receive a free tour of the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy while onsite.
“Every drop of blood that goes to accident victims, surgery patients, and firefighters battling cancer comes from donors,” said State Fire Marshal Jon M. Davine. “Giving blood is a small sacrifice that almost all of us can make in memory of those who sacrificed so much.”
The blood drive will follow a 25th anniversary ceremony on the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy drill yard, next to a permanent 9/11 memorial constructed of a beam recovered from Ground Zero. All are welcome to attend the ceremony, and blood donors will receive a free tour of the Academy in thanks for their contribution.
