I am writing to offer my full endorsement of Allison Vanderels, a candidate for the Sudbury School Committee. I have known Allison for several years and have witnessed firsthand her unwavering dedication to our schools, students, and community. Allison’s extensive experience and genuine passion for improving Sudbury Public Schools make her an ideal candidate for the School Committee.
Allison has generously volunteered at both the elementary and middle school levels for several years, giving her a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities within our schools. Her commitment to education is not limited to volunteer work alone. She was elected twice by Haynes Elementary School parents to serve on the state-mandated School Council, a body that collaborates with the school principal to identify educational needs, review the school budget, and contribute to the school improvement plan. In this capacity, Allison worked closely with educators, parents, and community members to make thoughtful, data-driven decisions that directly impact the quality of education.
Additionally, Allison’s involvement as a Board Member and Chairperson of Sudbury Extended Day highlights her dedication to enhancing the overall experience for students beyond the classroom. Her work on the board has allowed her to consider and address the diverse needs of children in our community.
What truly sets Allison apart is her approach to leadership. She listens to parents and community members, values their concerns, and genuinely wants to help. Rather than coming to the table with preconceived notions or hypothetical solutions, she draws from her hands-on experience and is open to working collaboratively with others to find solutions that are best for our children and larger school community. Allison never claims to have all the answers, but she is always willing to engage in meaningful dialogue and work together to find practical solutions that benefit our entire school community.
Personally, I have seen Allison’s passion for advocating for what is best for our schools and students. Her ability to bridge the gap between different perspectives, along with her willingness to work diligently to bring about change, is exactly what our School Committee needs. I have no doubt that Allison’s thoughtful, proactive, and collaborative approach will have a positive impact on the future of Sudbury Public Schools.
I strongly encourage you to vote for Allison Vanderels in the upcoming election for the Sudbury School Committee on March 31st. She will be a dedicated, approachable, and effective advocate for our children and our community.
Sincerely,
Lara Urso
