It is with great enthusiasm that Sudbury for Digital Balance, a local group of parents, educators, and healthcare providers dedicated to the well-being of our children with a focus on how to best navigate their digital world, proudly endorses Elizabeth (Betsy) Sues for election to the SPS School Committee. Our mission is to help children and teens develop socially and excel academically while minimizing the negative effects of technology. We believe Betsy is the right leader to shape our schools with policies that support student success, community engagement, and a balanced approach to technology use in education.
Betsy is an advocate for digital balance in the classroom, recognizing the importance of integrating technology in a way that enhances learning without overshadowing essential social interactions and academic growth. She understands that while technology is a valuable tool, excessive screen time can be a barrier to student engagement and mental well-being. Betsy is committed to thoughtful policy making that promotes intentional technology use, ensuring that students can focus, collaborate, and thrive in a distraction-free learning environment.
Beyond her advocacy for digital balance, Betsy champions a collaborative approach to curriculum updates, emphasizing project-based learning, student engagement, and academic performance. She is committed to ensuring that the curriculum evolves to meet the changing needs of students, using both internal and external reviews to guide improvements.
As the School Committee navigates ongoing staffing and educational challenges, Betsy’s leadership will be crucial. She has the experience to manage the collective bargaining process and is dedicated to ensuring that teachers, nurses, and education support professionals are valued, supported, and provided with the necessary resources to succeed. She recognizes the critical role educators play in student outcomes and is committed to working transparently and collaboratively to strengthen Sudbury’s schools.
Betsy’s commitment to communication and transparency is another key reason we proudly endorse her. She is dedicated to creating accessible channels for community input, ensuring that families and residents are informed and engaged in the decision-making process.
Sudbury deserves a leader who prioritizes student well-being, academic excellence, and a balanced approach to education in the digital age. We are confident that Betsy Sues is that leader, and we encourage the community to support her candidacy for the SPS School Committee.
