Greetings from your Sudbury 250 Committee.
We concluded our work on 9/30/2026.
The final report with the full details, acknowledgments, and accounts is at the Sudbury 250 Committee website at
To put the Committee’s work in numbers, we organized 10 presentations and performances, 8 events, 2 contests, and 1 TV show. This list includes our capstone event – the Sudbury 250 Day on 5/16/2026, a day that brought the entire town together in celebration and reflection.

We met 51 times in open session and 3 times in executive session. That is about 100 hours of deliberation, plus many more hours to plan and execute all the above events.
All this work in celebration and commemoration of the 250th anniversary of our nation’s founding was done for the benefit of and on behalf of our town and its residents. If we (re)kindled a promise to form a more perfect Union, an inspiration, or a reflection, amongst our residents or beyond, we consider our efforts fruitful.
I cannot thank the Committee members enough for their care, commitment, perseverance, and hard work – on behalf of and for the benefit of our town residents – in celebrating and commemorating this remarkable milestone of the 250th year of this nation’s founding.
We deliberated, and a few times the differences in approaches shed light on the full scope of an issue, and we did so with good humor and respect for one another.
The Sudbury Annual Town Meeting resolved on 5/4/2026:
“this Town Meeting expresses its firm conviction that the Town and the Nation will come together for the Tricentennial, for the 350th, and every fifty years hence in celebration of our continually inclusive and continuous Democracy that shall be, in words attributed to John Winthrop, “a city upon a hill – the eyes of all people are upon us.””
Let us hope that some of the children who enjoyed the 250th events will volunteer for the Sudbury 300 Committee.
I can only dream that they will celebrate a more perfect Union that echoes our town’s wishes from today, and pass on the tradition to their future children.
Regards.
