“I felt like I was flying!” shared one seven-year-old participant after riding the trail with his mom for the first time during Sudbury’s adaptive cycling kickoff event in May.
Now, the Commission on Disability is inviting even more residents and nonresidents of all ages and abilities to experience that same joy, connection, and freedom during upcoming Rail Trail Rides: Sudbury events this summer and fall.
Hosted in partnership with the Rail Trails Advisory Committee and All Out Adventures, the free adaptive cycling program allows participants to explore Sudbury’s rail trails using recumbent trikes, handcycles, tandem bikes, and other adaptive cycles in a welcoming and supportive environment.
The Commission on Disability is also seeking 3–5 volunteers, including high school students looking for community service opportunities, to help support riders during upcoming events by riding alongside participants when needed, assisting riders on and off bikes, and helping create a fun and inclusive experience for everyone.
