Earlier this week the SPS School Committee met to discuss dissolving their current agreement with the Town of Sudbury for a shared facilities department. The following is a letter that we sent to the Committee strongly encouraging a vote in their upcoming meeting to continue the arrangement and ensure Sandra Duran remains our joint facilities director. She is an invaluable member of our town.
We are writing to express our sincere support and gratitude for Sandra Duran, who has been a dedicated advocate for students with disabilities in our district. She consistently works to ensure that all students have equitable access to the built school environment and, in turn, the curriculum.
Sandra’s dedication is evident through the tangible improvements she has made to the physical environment and school buildings. These updates have significantly improved the daily school experience for all students, helping to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
We have lived through challenging experiences with facilities departments in other towns and cannot express enough how much of a relief it is to have such a trusted, reliable, and highly competent individual as Sandra in her position. Her commitment to fostering accessibility for all students deserves recognition and continued support.
