Last week the Sudbury-Wayland-Lincoln Domestic Violence Roundtable partnered with Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School to commemorate Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM). The Roundtable worked with Students Empowering Women (STEW) and the Mentors in Violence Prevention Program (MVP) to raise awareness about the prevalence of abuse and to honor victims and survivors in our local communities.
The Roundtable is delighted to have LSRHS join our group of buildings shining purple lights during October.
Last week’s football game between LS and Wayland High School featured signage noting DVAM. Players and cheerleaders wore purple in support of victims and survivors.
Students, representing STEW and MVP, had a joint table, and they sold items such as purple wrist bands and glow sticks provided by the Roundtable. The proceeds from sales will benefit the Roundtable and the Lauren Dunne Astley Memorial Fund.

The Roundtable would like to thank:
- Kevin Rossley and his team for installing the purple lights
- Lori Hodin and Sage Engberg, faculty advisors to MVP and STEW
- Gabby Martinelli and Aluel Mayen for their initiative, support, and enthusiasm
- The students of MVP and STEW
- The staff and students of Wayland High School
- LS Warriors football team, Coach Justin McKay, and the LS cheerleaders
- Dr. Andrew Stephens for his support
The Roundtable is grateful for the participation of the LSRHS community in DVAM, and we are proud to stand together in our joint determination to end violence in all its forms.Â
