This is a crucially important time to exercise our right to vote and determine the type of governance we want in our community. I wholeheartedly support both Lisa Kouchakdjian and Radha Gargeya for election to the Select Board. Lisa and Radha are both public servants who have uncompromising standards of integrity and abundant compassion for all of our residents.
Lisa has displayed extraordinary leadership for over ten years now. As Chair of the Sudbury School Committee for almost two and one-half years, Lisa lead the community through the EEE crisis and the COVID pandemic. She demonstrated very strong leadership in that role. As a Select Board member, one of Lisa’s greatest accomplishments was helping the Select Board to hire our new Town Manager. This is a decision that benefits all the multiple departments that the town manager oversees. Lisa has the maturity and good judgment that we need as we move forward. As a mother and as a daughter caring for her mother aging in place, Lisa has a broad understanding of the issues impacting residents on a daily basis. Additionally, as an attorney, Lisa’s decision-making is grounded in a knowledge of the Law and how government needs to work to best serve the people. Lisa’s life experiences, her maturity and wisdom, are needed at this important time.
Radha, during his 12 years on Lincoln Sudbury School Committee, four as Chair, has kept the primary missions – ensuring that the student learning and care remained excellent. Two examples, among many, were his invaluable leadership in the tech upgrade project at LS, and in the successful safety upgrade of the Girl’s Softball field. His leadership in the initiative to install the LS solar canopy, has benefitted both the school and our town, in subsidizing over $1million of our energy costs. Currently Radha is serving our town as Chair of Sudbury 250 Committee, planning events to mark the 250thanniversary of the American Revolution. I have no doubt we will all be very grateful for his visionary and moderating leadership. Throughout his public service, Radha has led with his very calm, thoughtful, and deliberate approach. His temperate responses to conflict will bring a more dignified tone which will be beneficial to the Select Board.
Electing such dedicated, high caliber leaders as Lisa and Radha is critically important at this time when all of our institutions are under attack. Lisa and Radha with their high standards of integrity and genuine commitment to the Town of Sudbury will help to insulate us from the negative impacts of the recent political instability.
It is my opinion that we are very fortunate to have such highly qualified and genuinely good people as Lisa and Radha representing us. Please join me in re-electing Lisa Kouchakdjian and electing Radha Gargeya to the Select Board.
