Next week Sudbury will hold our annual Town Meeting. Article 27 would have Sudbury adopt the Opt-In Specialized Stretch Code which builds on the efficiency and clean building standards that already exist in the Building Code that is already used in Sudbury when construction and renovations of buildings happen. I urge anyone attending Town Meeting to vote Yes on Article 27 for the following three reasons:
- It will apply only to new construction and will ultimately result in higher resale value of houses, as MA regulations continue to lead construction toward lower energy costs through the use of renewable energy sources, making houses that already comply more desirable.
- Financially, adopting this code will also get the Town of Sudbury one step closer to being able to apply for additional state funding ($1 million over three years) for clean energy projects. These projects might include needed projects such as school HVAC replacements
- Wayland, Concord, & Weston are among the nearly 50 towns and cities in Massachusetts to have already adopted The Opt-In Specialized Stretch Code.
