As the 2026 Town election approaches, I have mixed feelings. Very glad that many incumbents and a few new candidates have stepped up to do their best to carry the workload of keeping Sudbury moving forward. Very sad that a whole swath of my neighbors have coalesced around a set of ginned up allegations, false claims, and innuendo assailing the integrity of most of the members serving on the SPS School Committee.
I follow the work of the SPS School Committee and I can attest that what is being portrayed as some kind of abusive process is no such thing. Members ask their questions and present their views. This chair, like all other chairs I’ve observed for ten years, ushers the agenda. It’s all pretty standard. The issues before the school committee and the community these days are challenging, but that’s been true all along, too. I hope the wider community will not get sucked into the negative vortex being stirred up by a few community members who seem to have some kind of axe to grind.
Instead, please just turn out at the Community Center on March 30 or send in your mail in ballot to use your voice as a voter.
I will be marking my ballot for those candidates who stood up to run and shoulder the jobs Sudbury needs done. The two candidates running for SPS School Committee, Julie Durgin and Ellen Lederer-DeFrancesco will be among my picks.
