All registered voters should have received a personalized vote-by-mail application postcard in the U.S. mail this week from the Massachusetts Secretary of State. If you wish to vote by mail in 2024, you must apply, even if you voted by mail in 2023. 2023 vote-by-mail applications have expired and are no longer valid.
Vote by mail will be available for all elections held in Sudbury in 2024, including the March 25 Annual Town Election. If you wish to vote by mail, apply now. Ballots requested close to an election may not be received in time to vote.
You can use the postcard to apply to vote by mail for select elections or for all elections during the calendar year – check the boxes to indicate your preference. Checking the box for “all elections” will include the March 25 Annual Town Election.
If you wish to vote by mail only for the Annual Town Election, do not use the postcard to apply. Use this fillable pdf available on the Town Clerk’s website instead. In section 2, add the March 25 Annual Town Election.
Registered voters who are unenrolled in a party can select which party’s primary ballot they would like to use without affecting their unenrolled status. If you vote in person, you will make your selection at the polls. If you vote by mail, you will make your selection when you apply for a mail ballot. You may choose a different party for the March 5 presidential primary and the Sept. 3 state primary.
Registered voters enrolled in a party must vote using that party’s primary ballot. The appropriate ballot will be given to you at the polls or mailed to you if you apply to vote by mail. If you wish to vote using the ballot of a party other than your party of registration, you can change your registration here.
There are two ways to return a mail ballot: by U.S. mail or via the secure drop box behind Town Hall. The drop box will be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week once mail ballots have been sent to voters. Be sure to sign the envelope before you return your ballot.
