Sudbury TV, Sudbury’s local television non-profit, today announced the addition of a fourth channel, as well as an upgraded on-demand service online. The new channel will feature major events such as Sudbury’s Annual Town Meetings, concerts and sports. It will broadcast in high-definition on Comcast 1074 and Verizon 2130.
The complete channel lineup offered by Sudbury TV also includes dedicated channels for public programming, government and education. According to their announcement:
Public programming is programming from the community at large, including groups such as the Sudbury Historical Society, the League of Women Voters and individuals. Government programming is coverage of municipal meetings and events. Educational programming is coverage of school events, sports, concerts and other student activities, plus school committee meetings.

In addition to the new channel, Sudbury TV announced upgrades to its online on-demand video service. The announcement notes that the service can now optimize the video streaming rate for the device you are using, ensuing a better viewing experience. In addition to modernized design, the on-demand service is neatly organized into playlists for each Town committee or board.

The news arrives as Sudbury TV has been aggressively expanding its coverage of local events. According to their annual report (Page 64):
“In FY23, SudburyTV covered over 360 municipal meetings, an average of 30 per month. All are accessible on SudburyTV’s Video On Demand service. This represents coverage of 28 municipal boards/committees/commissions, up from 15 covered in 2020 and 6 in 2015.”

Residents who don’t have cable television can access Sudbury TV’s live and recorded programs from their website for free.
