On Monday, June 24, the Harvard Select Board voted 5-0 to offer Dan Nason their open Town Administrator position. Nason is currently serving as the Director of Public Works (DPW) in Sudbury.
The Harvard Press had the scoop here. They reported that Nason was the first choice of all five Harvard Select Board members. The vote authorized their Select Board Chair, Don Ludwig, to negotiate a contract with Nason.
Nason has built a reputation in Sudbury as a thorough, long-term planner. During his interview last week he emphasized collaboration and team building. He shared stories of bringing in meals for DPW staff during snow storms, and the importance of adapting his daily calendar to give staffers one-on-one time. Members of the Harvard Select Board cited his collaborative approach to leadership in their comments.
If the contract negotiations are successful, Sudbury will have to fill another director-level vacancy. The town has recently filled openings for the Director of Planning and Community Development, Director of Public Health and Finance Director/Treasurer.
