During the October 7 meeting of the Sudbury Select Board, Town Manager Andy Sheehan informed the board that the Town is attempting to sort out the impact of certain executive orders from the White House and their potential impact on direct and indirect Federal funding that comes to Sudbury.
Sheehan told the board:
We’re trying to figure out what the impact of certain executive orders and funding limitations in Washington are going to have on our local funds. Typically grant funding that comes from the Federal government, whether it’s direct or indirect through the State, there’s an indication that there are limitations and restrictions on some of that money that might force cooperation with ICE enforcement efforts and with DEI policies, or the elimination, I should say, of DEI polices. We’re not sure what it all means at this point, we’re not sure what parts of it are going to apply to us at the local level, but we’re concerned about it and continuing to watch that and we’ll report back on that once that becomes clear.
Sheehan’s comments are at timestamp 6:43 in the following Sudbury TV video.
Sheehan did not provide any additional detail, and the board did not ask for him to elaborate, but the comments came during a shutdown of the Federal government, and a wave of frozen payments to “blue” states for previously approved projects.
