Two more people filed an intention (“pulled papers”) Friday to seek re-election in the March 30 Annual Town Election: Liam J. Vesely for Board of Assessors and Susan Ruth Sama for Board of Health.
Vesely is running for re-election to the Board of Assessors. He currently serves as that committee’s chair. Vesely was first elected to the Board of Assessors in 2002. He is running for a ninth term.
Sama is running for re-election to the Board of Health. Sama was first elected to the Board of Health in 2014. She is running for a fifth term.
There are 11 open positions on this year’s Annual Town Election ballot. Any Sudbury registered voter may run for office. Prospective candidates do not need permission from a board or committee to run.
To appear on the ballot, prospective candidates must file an intention to run, gather the signatures of at least 50 registered Sudbury voters on a set of nomination papers, return those signatures by the Feb. 9 deadline, and the Town Clerk’s office must certify those signatures.

According to the Town Clerk’s office, the period for prospective candidates to file their intention to run is from Tuesday, Jan. 6 to Thursday, Feb. 5. Nomination papers (“signatures”) must be returned by Monday, Feb. 9.
