Carmine Gentile, Sudbury’s representative in the Massachusetts House of Representatives, announced on February 10 that he will not seek reelection for a seventh term.
In a brief X post, Gentile told constituents “I have enjoyed representing the people of the 13th Middlesex District these past 11 years and look forward to the year ahead and a race to the finish in January 2027. I will not seek a 7th term. This year continues to provide challenges and great satisfaction.”
Gentile is going out on a high note. He won reelection in 2024 with a dominant performance. He defeated challenger Virginia Gardner of Wayland in a landslide that spanned five cities and towns that comprise the 13th Middlesex district, including Sudbury, Marlborough, Concord, Lincoln and Wayland. (The 13th includes all of Sudbury, as well as certain precincts and wards in the other four municipalities)
During the course of his service Gentile was a vocal advocate for environmental protection, elder affairs, affordable housing, debt-free public higher education, and voting rights, to name a few issues. He also serves locally on Sudbury’s Council on Aging and chairs the Sudbury Housing Trust.
As Gentile’s statement noted, he will finish his current term, which runs through January of next year.
