As the town of Sudbury enters a landmark year, the Sudbury Chamber of Commerce and a dedicated team of volunteers are calling for community support to ensure this year’s July 4th Parade is the most memorable yet.
The 2026 parade carries more significance than usual, marking the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. For Sudbury, a town whose history is woven into the fabric of the nation’s founding, the event serves as a centerpiece for the Sudbury 250 celebrations.
In the latest Sudbury Municipal Update, (embedded below, page 17) Select Board member Radha Gargeya highlighted a pivotal shift in the event’s organization. After years of dedicated service from a long-standing volunteer committee, the leadership of the parade is transitioning. Gargeya emphasized that for this tradition to continue thriving, especially during such a monumental anniversary, community support and volunteers are needed.
The Chamber of Commerce is actively seeking volunteers to assist with key elements of the parade operations, as well as financial sponsors.
While the 4th of July Parade is the summer’s headliner, the town will also have an opportunity to celebrate this spring. Residents are encouraged to mark their calendars for Sudbury 250 Day, scheduled for Saturday, May 16, 2026.
The May event for Sudbury 250 Day “Will be a town-wide celebration. Featuring Minutemen drills, a colonial dress parade, crafting, period music and dancing, food trucks and more.” Held at Sudbury’s Historic Town Center, Sudbury 250 Day and all of the associated events have been planned methodically by the Sudbury 250 Committee.
The message from the Select Board and the Chamber is clear: the 250th anniversary is not just a milestone for the history books, but a call to action for the current generation of Sudbury residents.
