A Special Town Meeting, called by citizen’s petition, gets underway at 7 p.m. this Wednesday, May 20.
The meeting will be in the gymnasium of Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School. It is open to all Sudbury registered voters, and voters must participate in person. There is no remote participation or absentee voting option.
There are four articles, all submitted by citizen’s petition, on the Special Town Meeting warrant.
To reach the gymnasium from the parking lot, look for signs directing voters to the entrance towards the playing fields rather than the entrance next to the cafeteria. There will be a greeter at that door and signs to direct voters to the gym. The town is renting chairs to provide seating on the floor of the gym; additional seating will be in the bleachers. Votes are taken at town meeting using an electronic handheld clicker. You must check in to receive the clicker that will allow your vote to be recorded.
The warrant, which has been mailed to all households, lists the basic rules and procedures for conducting the meeting and provides information about each of the articles. The warrant also includes information on the availability of van transportation and accessibility provisions.
The Special Town Meeting will be broadcast live on SudburyTV. The internet livestream can be viewed on a computer, smartphone, or other device at sudburytv.org. A cable subscription is not needed to view the livestream. Cable TV subscribers can tune in on Comcast channels 8 and 1074 and Verizon channels 31 and 2130.
