As a member of the SHC for 44 years, some of which was Chairman, I would like to let the public know how important it is to support this town Commission. I knew Miss Hosmer and attended SHC before she passed away in 1978.
The town is very fortunate that she left the house, furnishings and her paintings to the Town of Sudbury. We have inventoried 497 of her art work, of which about 300 have been on display at our Open House Events.
There will be an Open House on July 4th which will give those attending a chance to view the historic gift.
There will be a complete exterior restoration of the Hosmer House, to be completed by 2027.
The SHC also focuses on historic public/private buildings/barns/outbuildings/bridges/monuments/cemeteries. Historic property inventories for each of these features including its history, architectural features and other pertinent historic information. The SHC encourages the historic preservation of Sudbury’s amazing and rich local history.
