The Atkinson Pool has been closed for renovations over the past few months, but it’s on track for an on-schedule reopening according to comments from Sudbury Health Director Vivian Zeng.
During the November 19 meeting of the Board of Health, Zeng informed the board that both pools have been filled, the pool was shocked, and they will soon work on balancing the water. The final inspection of the pool is scheduled for Tuesday, November 25. The pool is expected to reopen on Monday, December 1.
She also noted that damper fans have been added to circulate the air in the Atkinson Pool. Zeng is working with Combined Facilities Director, Sandra Duran, to develop an annual maintenance plan, with a focus on filtration parts replacement being built into the annual budget.
Zeng reported that the pressure tests on the plumbing have all checked out, indicating that any leaks have been fixed.
The company that did the work is the same company that did the work at Sudbury Swim & Tennis Club according to Zeng. She voiced confidence in the quality of their work on both projects.
If the pool passes the inspection on November 25, residents can expect an on-time opening following the Thanksgiving holiday.
