The Sudbury Capital Improvement Advisory Committee met on Monday, November 10 to discuss two articles at the upcoming Special Town Meeting on December 1, 2025.
Those articles included one for the partial replacement of the General John Nixon Elementary School roof, and the complete replacement of the Josiah Haynes Elementary School Roof. The Nixon project has an estimated cost of $4,064,845 and the Haynes project has an estimated cost of $7,821,563. (More information here.)
Following a brief discussion with Assistant Town Manager Victor Garofalo, and Combined Facilities Director Sandra Duran, the committee voted unanimously to recommend approval of both articles to Town Meeting.
The committee pressure tested the estimates for the projects, and asked questions about what would happen if the bids came in above the appropriation for the projects. Garofalo and Duran addressed those concerns and explained the nature of the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) process for reimbursing qualifying expenses for the projects.
After those exchanges, the committee voted unanimously in support of recommendation for both articles, and adjourned shortly thereafter.
