While the summer of 2026 may seem a long way off, the Sudbury Chamber of Commerce is already gearing up for a celebration of historic proportions. In honor of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the Chamber has officially opened a community-wide call for theme ideas for the 2026 July 4th Parade.
The upcoming “Semiquincentennial” marks two and a half centuries since 1776, and local organizers are looking for a theme that reflects the town’s deep revolutionary roots while celebrating its modern community spirit.
“We invite the entire community to help set the tone for this historic 2026 Sudbury 4th of July Parade,” the Chamber announced in a recent blog post. “Let’s make this a true community celebration.”
The Chamber is welcoming submissions from any member of the community.
The selected theme will follow in the footsteps of past inspirations such as “Sudbury Through the Eyes of Children,” “Sudbury Salutes Heroes, Helpers & Essential Workers,” and the historically focused “1776: When It All Began.”
Beyond the pride of seeing their idea headlining the historic procession, the winner of the theme contest will receive:
- A $100 gift certificate to a local Sudbury restaurant.
- Official recognition on the Sudbury Chamber of Commerce website.
- Special recognition during the parade itself as the town kicks off the next 250 years.
The Parade Committee will be responsible for reviewing all entries and selecting the winning concept.
Residents ready to make their mark on town history can submit their theme ideas via email to [email protected].
The deadline for submissions is March 14, 2026. For more information on the parade and other Chamber initiatives, visit the Sudbury Chamber of Commerce website.
