As is tradition in Sudbury, many boards and committees reorganize after Annual Town Meeting in early May. Reorganization typically includes selecting a Chair and Vice Chair for the next year. For some boards and committees it includes shuffling liaison assignments to other boards. For yet others, it includes formal appointments of members to related boards and committees. For example, several committees appoint members to the Community Preservation Committee.
Here’s the running summary of reorganization votes so far.
Select Board
Lisa Kouchakdjian was voted to serve as Chair of the Select Board on Tuesday, May 21. Janie Dretler was voted to serve as Vice Chair.
Sudbury Public Schools (SPS) School Committee
Karyn Jones was voted to serve as Chair of the committee on Monday, May 20. Jessica McCready was voted to serve as Vice Chair. The Chair and Vice Chair typically form the Negotiations Subcommittee, which is what happened on Monday. Jones and McCready will take over ongoing negotiations with the teachers.
Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School School Committee
Ravi Simon was voted to serve a second consecutive year as Chair on May 13. Catherine Bitter was voted to serve a second consecutive term as Vice Chair.
Planning Board
The board didn’t take up the matters of Chair and Vice Chair at their May 14 meeting. The board currently does not have a Vice Chair, as former member Justin Finnicum finished his time on the board serving as Vice Chair. However, they did appoint members to the Land Acquisition Review Committee (LARC), the Rail Trails Advisory Committee (RTAC), and the Community Preservation Committee (CPC). Chair Steve Garvin and member Julie Perlman were appointed to the LARC. Member John Sugrue was re-appointed to RTAC, and newly-elected member Kirsten Roopenian was appointed to the CPC. Roopenian was previously an at-large member of the CPC, so that seat is now open to another member of the community.
Goodnow Library Trustees
Katina Fontes was voted to serve as Chair for the second time at their May 14 meeting. Newly-elected Jill Caseria was voted to serve as Vice Chair.
Commission on Disability
The commission voted Liesje Quinto as Chair on May 14. Karyn Jones was voted Vice Chair. The commission is looking for new members. The application form is here.
