The Sudbury Water District annual elections do not typically draw significant participation from eligible voters. In the 2024 election, only 38 voters cast ballots. (Page 15) However, the Water District is providing an opportunity for eligible voters to vote by absentee ballot.
According to the Sudbury Water District website, a voter is eligible to participate in their elections if:
- Registered Voter: the individual must be a registered voter in the Town of Sudbury;
- Primary Residency, the individual’s primary residence must be located within the geographical boundaries of the Sudbury Water District; and
- District Service: The residence must be serviced by the Sudbury Water District. For a property to be considered “serviced,” it must be physically connected to the District’s water infrastructure, have an active service account, and be actively receiving water service from the District.
The option for voting by absentee ballot requires an application, according to the Sudbury Water District website. The details are available here. The application is available here. Take note: the deadlines listed on the page appear to be inconsistent. The page states the window to request an absentee ballot is “Tuesday April 29, 2025 to Monday, May 19, 2025 at 12 noon.” But further down the page it goes on to say that the deadline for absentee ballot applications is “Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at 5 p.m.”
Voters also have the option to cast their absentee ballot in-person before the election day. “You may make arrangements with the Sudbury Water District Administration staff 978-443-6602 to cast your absentee ballot in-person at the Sudbury Water District Administration office until 12 p.m. on the day before any election.”
The district’s main office at 199 Raymond Road is the polling place for Sudbury Water District elections.
