FELS, the Foundation for Educators at Lincoln-Sudbury, awarded four grants for their 2024 cycle on April 30. The ceremony took place at Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School, with Superintendent Andrew Stephens present for the event.
The recipients included:
- Vicky Caburian, Wellness, for her proposal 2024 Chronicle Adventures
- Kelly Gaudreau, English, for her proposal A Year of Wellness
- Tracie Lopez, Special Education, for her joint proposal, Gaining and Maintaining Equanimity
- Kendra Pavlik, Special Education, for her joint proposal, Gaining and Maintaining Equanimity
FELS was founded as a nonprofit in 2000. The organization awards grants to Lincoln-Sudbury educators for personal and professional enrichment during school vacation or during the summer. According to their announcement, their goal is to: “offer parents a tangible way to show their appreciation to the L-S professional staff for the unflagging dedication, tireless effort, and genuine caring they routinely offer our children.”
Grant recipients apply at the start of the process with a wide variety of projects and endeavors. Some are for travel and wellness, others are directly-related to initiatives and work at the high school, and yet others are for creative projects. A list of past grants can be reviewed here. In its 24 years of operation, FELS has awarded over 100 grants.
In addition to reviewing and awarding grants, FELS conducts a series of fundraisers throughout the year. Those include a much-anticipated Thanksgiving Pie Sale and the Prom Flower Sale. The Junior Prom Flower Sale just concluded, and the Senior Prom Flower Sale starts this week. While those fundraisers are a primary source of fundraising, donations can be made at any time on the FELS website.
