On Tuesday, the first day of Sudbury’s Annual Town Election season, three people filed their intention (“pulled papers”) to seek re-election and one person filed to run for the first time in the March 30 Annual Town Election.
Filing to run were Charles G. Russo for Select Board, Julie Leigh Durgin for Sudbury School Committee, Ravi Simon for Lincoln-Sudbury Regional District School Committee, and Ingrid J. Mayyasi for Goodnow Library Trustee.
Russo is running for re-election to the Select Board. He has previously served as Select Board chair and as an appointed member of the Conservation Commission. Russo was first elected to the Select Board in 2020. He is running for a third term.
Durgin is currently serving as an appointed member of the Sudbury School Committee. She was appointed in December to fill a vacancy created by the resignation of Mandy Sim. This is Durgin’s first run for office in Sudbury.
Simon is running for re-election to Lincoln-Sudbury Regional District School Committee. He currently serves as that committee’s chair. Simon was first elected to the Lincoln-Sudbury Regional District School Committee in 2023 and is running for a second term.
Mayyasi is running for re-election as a Goodnow Library Trustee. She has previously served as chair of that committee. Mayyasi was first elected as a Goodnow Library Trustee in 2017. She is running for a fourth term.
There are 11 open positions on this year’s Annual Town Election ballot. Any Sudbury registered voter may run for office. Prospective candidates do not need permission from a board or committee to run.
To appear on the ballot, prospective candidates must file an intention to run, gather the signatures of at least 50 registered Sudbury voters on a set of nomination papers, return those signatures by the Feb. 9 deadline, and the Town Clerk’s office must certify those signatures.

According to the Town Clerk’s office, the period for prospective candidates to file their intention to run is from Tuesday, Jan. 6 to Thursday, Feb. 5. Nomination papers (“signatures”) must be returned by Monday, Feb. 9.
