A long-time staple of Sudbury Plaza on Boston Post Road is celebrating 40 years of operation.
Goodwill opened their donation center in Sudbury Plaza in 1984. According to the operators: “The Sudbury donation location is one of Goodwill’s longest held sites as well as one of its most productive.” Just last year, the location collected over one million pounds of clothing and household goods, and it all came from over 27,000 individual donations.
Joanne K. Hilferty is the president and CEO of Goodwill. She thanked the community for the ongoing support:
“We thank Sudbury residents for their generous support over these many years and count on their ongoing generosity. We are also grateful to the Town of Sudbury and Wilder, which owns the plaza, for their ongoing commitment to Goodwill.”
Sudbury Plaza has been undergoing renovations recently, and Goodwill took the opportunity to spruce up their attended donation trailers:
As for what all those donations amount to, the announcement added:
“Goodwill’s retail social enterprise provides on-the-job training opportunities for individuals in its programs as well as access to high quality items at affordable prices for individuals and families who need to stretch their budgets. Goodwill served more than 4,600 in its job training and career services last year.”
