The Select Board has called a special town meeting for Monday, Dec. 1, which will be followed by a special town election set for Tuesday, Dec. 16, at Fairbank Community Center. The election will be held regardless of the outcome of the vote at the Dec. 1 town meeting.
The Dec. 1 town meeting, at 7 p.m. in the Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School auditorium, will vote on two articles covering funding for replacement and repair of the roof systems at Haynes and Nixon elementary schools. Seven additional warrant articles were submitted by the Nov. 3 deadline and were accepted by the Select Board. The warrant is posted here.
The two roofing funding articles also have to be voted on in the Dec. 16 special town election.
According to the Town Clerk, the last day to register to vote to be eligible to participate in both the Special Town Meeting and the Dec. 16 election is 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21. You can check your voter registration status and register to vote at www.VoteInMA.com.
Mail ballots will be available for that election, but there will be no in-person early voting. The last day to request a mail ballot is Tuesday, Dec. 9, at 5 p.m., but the League recommends requesting the ballot as soon as possible to allow time to receive and return it.
Voters who submitted a request for mail ballots for all elections in 2025 do not have to apply again; a mail ballot will be sent automatically. If you need to apply, an online application is available at www.VoteInMA.com. Paper applications are available from the Town Clerk’s Office in Town Hall, 322 Concord Rd. Completed, signed applications should be mailed, or scanned and sent by email, or faxed to the Town Clerk’s Office. Additional information is available here. You can check the status of your mail ballot at www.VoteInMA.com.
Completed mail ballots must be returned by mail, hand-delivered to the Town Clerk’s office, or deposited in the ballot drop box behind Town Hall, which is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Mail ballots must be received by 8 p.m. on Election Day and cannot be returned to the polling place.
In-person voting will be held from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day, Dec. 16. All Sudbury precincts will vote at the Fairbank Community Center, 40 Fairbank Rd. There is no in-person early voting for this election.
