Take note of some impressive work being done by students at Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High
School.
Students recently urged the Select Board to consider creating a Sudbury Youth Commission; Aiyana Allen and Lucy Immonen presented the proposal at a Select Board meeting. The comprehensive recommendation was a two-way street. The proposed commission would advise the town on policies affecting young people and changes that would improve their lives in Sudbury. But it would also seek to increase civic engagement among young people and provide a platform for them to share their views. I hope the Select Board acts on the work that has been done by these students.
And Aaron Ortiz, who is a news editor at the L-S student newspaper, recently wrote an informative article for Sudbury Weekly on the important (if not very exciting) subject of options for replacing the school’s 25-year old roof. It’s not a story I would have expected a student journalist to tackle. Congratulations to Aaron for taking it on.
