Sudbury Valley Trustees (SVT) is inviting the community to a grand opening celebration for its new, fully accessible All Persons’ Trail on October 4, 2026. The event will take place from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at SVT’s headquarters at Wolbach Farm, located at 18 Wolbach Road in Sudbury.
According to their announcement, the morning will feature activities for visitors of all ages. The celebration’s first hour will offer sensory-friendly opportunities, while the rest of the event will include forest bathing, birding, music, story time, and light refreshments.
The All Persons’ Trail is designed specifically to provide access to nature for individuals using mobility devices, including strollers, walkers, and wheelchairs. Constructed from eco-friendly, erosion-resistant stabilized stone dust, the trail is free to use and will remain open to the public year-round.
The path begins at the Wolbach Farm parking lot, eventually reaching a picnic grove that features an accessible family gathering space with accessible picnic tables. Visitors utilizing the path will also pass a rain garden, a pollinator garden, and the Judy Mack Barn-view Terrace, which provides café-style seating and resting benches. The path also connects to SVT’s Woodland Trail, bringing visitors directly into the forest. A round trip to the end of the Woodland Trail covers approximately 0.6 miles.
Following the trail’s completion, SVT is shifting its focus toward an accessible nature play area, which is scheduled to be installed in 2027. Cecil Hynds-Riddle, SVT’s Director of Development, emphasized that the upcoming play area will serve as a free entry point to nature exploration for young children and their caretakers.
The All Persons’ Trail was made possible through funding from multiple sponsors, including The Sudbury Foundation, The Manton Foundation, John and Molly Beard, Athletic Brewing Company, The DICK’S Sporting Goods Foundation, and the SuAsCo Wild and Scenic Rivers River Stewardship Council, among others.
SVT is currently welcoming public feedback on the trail and input for the 2027 nature play area at www.svtweb.org/APtrail, where information on remaining naming and dedication opportunities is also available.
