I have known both Lisa Kouchakdjian and Radha Gargeya for many years. In times of uncertainty, when steadfast leadership is desperately required, both Lisa and Radha are needed on the Sudbury Select Board to ensure intelligent, thoughtful, and tireless leadership for all of Sudbury.
As a state representative and member of the Sudbury Council on Aging and Sudbury Housing Trust, I worked with Lisa when she was previously on the SPS school committee, when she was previously on the Commission on Disability, and while she has been on the Select Board for the past three years. I worked with Radha for the many years he was on the L-S school committee, for the many years he served as chair of the LS school committee, and while he served as chair of the Sudbury 250 Committee.
Both Lisa and Radha take the time necessary to thoroughly research every issue they must address. They take the time to talk to all interested sides of every issue they address. They are not afraid of, and in fact embrace, the opportunity to hear from and talk with people who may have opposing points of view. That is the kind of leadership Sudbury needs and needs now.
Over the past three years on the Select Board Lisa worked to hire our experienced and dedicated Town Manager, Andy Sheehan; she championed efforts to get Sudbury back into a vocational education school district; she supported the Fairbanks community center, the fire station, public safety, and public health services; and she supported the rail trails, transportation initiatives and sustainability initiatives. Clear evidence of how Lisa is viewed outside Sudbury is the fact that she was recently appointed by members of the Mass. Municipal Association to serve as chair of the MMA Women’s Elected Municipal Officials Steering Committee.
During his 12 years on the L-S school committee Radha served as chair for four years. During that time he led the technology and networking infrastructure upgrade at L-S. He worked with multiple town boards, committees, and staff to complete the community softball field at L-S. In perhaps his most visible accomplishment, Radha led the work necessary to overcome multiple obstacles to complete the L-S parking lot solar canopy, saving significant money for L-S and Sudbury and helping to save the environment.
Lisa and Radha are intelligent, thoughtful, and tireless leaders who are open to all residents of Sudbury and willing to serve all residents of Sudbury. I urge you to vote to reelect Lisa Kouchakdjian and elect Radha Gargeya to the Sudbury Select Board on Monday, March 31st.
Thank you,
Carmine Gentile
