A No Kings protest was held in Sudbury on Saturday October, 18. According to multiple estimates from attendees and organizers, between 700 and 800 people turned out to protest.
Held from 1-2:30 along Route 20 at the intersection with Bay Drive (commonly known as the Whole Foods Plaza in Sudbury), the protest featured an abundance of signs and ongoing “no kings” chants. There were even a few costumes, including a panda, a bald eagle and Pikachu from Pokemon.

The protest was organized by the Sudbury Democratic Town Committee, and was the second No Kings protest held in Sudbury this year.
The latest event went off without any reported traffic disruptions or conflicts, though protesters and sign-holders were greeted with a steady stream of supportive honks from cars driving through Sudbury’s main thoroughfare.
Attendees took to social media during and after the event to share pictures, videos and commentary on the event. They described an “uplifting” experience and a reassuring sense of solidarity and love of country.
In addition to the No Kings protest, an informal group called Sudbury Stands For Democracy has been hosting weekly “stand outs” in Sudbury’s Historic Town Center. While those are typically smaller events than what was seen on October 18, they are also open to to anyone to join.

[Correction: an earlier version of this story attributed the weekly “stand outs” to the Sudbury Democratic Town Committee. This story has been updated with correct attribution to an informal group called Sudbury Stands For Democracy.]
