The annual U.S. News and World Report high school rankings were released this week, and Massachusetts schools fared quite well overall. Here in Sudbury, Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School (LSRHS); came in at 68 in Massachusetts and 1,659 nationally.
Last year, Niche ranked LSRHS 12 in the state, and Boston Magazine ranked LSRHS 36 in the Boston area.
The various ranking companies use different methodologies which tend to produce significant differences in results. There are also concerns about the quality of the data used in the rankings. Last year the Boston Magazine rankings were based on faulty or incorrect data in at least two areas according to LSRHS Superintendent Andrew Stephens.
Data issues aside, the rankings industry has been expanding in recent years, with firms like Niche even ranking high school athletics programs. LSRHS cracked the top 10 in Massachusetts.
