Thank you to Granger Atkeson, Kay Bell, Debbie Dineen, Radha Gargeya, David Henkels, and Jennifer Pincus for your willingness to serve on the Liberty Ledge/Sewataro Advisory Committee to address the Select Board’s request for advice and recommendations on that property. You knew Sewataro’s future is a controversial topic in Sudbury and that you would likely face strong criticism as you did this work. But you made a conscious effort to involve the public from the beginning and continuously. Many of your meetings were in person; all featured remote access. You conducted a survey to gauge residents’ concerns. You held meetings for public input and offered a tour of the property.
On October 8, you presented your draft recommendations and solicited feedback from the community on each of them: three short-term proposals for the next year, five medium-term proposals for the next five years, and five long-term proposals beginning after five years. I would urge residents to take a look at your recommendations. The final version will be presented to the Select Board at the end of October.
Your work was thoughtful and comprehensive, and sets a model for the constructive way the town should consider and address issues around the Liberty Ledge/Sewataro property going forward. Thank you.
