The Blessing Barn, which operates multiple thrift stores in Massachusetts, has closed its Beacon Hill location and moved to an expanded location at 348 Boston Post Road in Sudbury. According to their Facebook page, they opened on Saturday, August 24. They sell antiques and thrift goods.
A representative of the store told Sudbury Weekly:
We relocated and expanded our Beacon Hill location to Sudbury! We have two floors filled with home decor, kitchen items, linens, books, a kid’s room with clothing and toys, adult clothing and more! 100% of our profits from this location go to our program we launched in November of 2020 called, Room In The City, which provides free, short term housing for the patients and loved ones admitted into Boston hospitals.

Our opening on Saturday had people lined up at our doors and the rest of the day we had lines with happy customers purchasing their new Blessing Barn finds!
The Blessing Barn locations generate revenue for Compassion New England (CNE) programs, including Room In The City, The Happy Place and a crisis center based out of their Mendon thrift shop:
“Our Crisis Center serves individuals in need of food & basic necessities. From house fires to unexpected pregnancy, those in need will find a Care Representative ready to help!”
According to the organization’s Facebook page:
“Blessing Barn Sudbury exists to provide simple, short term housing for patients and their support individuals needing medical care away from home. We are proud to provide a ROOM IN THE CITY.” That program was created to “provide free, short-term housing in a two bed / two bath apartment for loved ones of patients admitted into Boston hospitals.”
The organization operates two additional stores in Mendon, MA. Those include the original The Blessing Barn and a nearby bookstore with a cafe. According to their website, a vocational program called The Happy Place provides vocational training opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities at both locations. In a Worcester Business Journal interview in 2023, the owners reported over $1 million in annual sales across their locations.
Compassion New England and The Happy Place are each listed as a ministry of the Bethany Community Church based in Mendon, MA. The Bethany Christian Academy is also operated at the church in Mendon.
