The Community Preservation Committee (CPC) wrapped up their votes on a sizable batch of applications for FY25 funding during their January 17 meeting. They had two remaining applications awaiting a final vote, including one for design funds for the Parkinson Field driveway, and another for a significant request for the Sudbury Housing Trust Allocation.
They voted unanimously to recommend approval of the Parkinson Field Driveway design funds, and unanimously to fund a less than half the request from the Sudbury Housing Trust. The final request, which changed several times throughout the process, was $1,031,250. The CPC ultimately voted for $380,000. There was confusion surrounding the Housing Trust allocation and the CPC had not received further information they requested following the hearing with the applicant. The committee opted to proceed on the information they had in-hand and determined the amount to fund based on their available cash. (1:08:15)
This year’s applications included some noteworthy projects, including repairs to the Wayside Inn bridge over Hop Brook, funding for community gardens, and additional funds for the next phase of the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail headed towards Framingham. Details on each application are available here. Sudbury Weekly’s coverage of the other applications is here.
The CPC reviewed warrant articles in their January 17 meeting, and were set to wrap up their work with time to spare before the January 31 deadline for the Annual Town Meeting warrant. The articles will have to pass at Annual Town Meeting in May in order for the projects to get officially funded.
