The Sudbury Community Preservation Committee (CPC) is now accepting qualifying project proposals according to the Town of Sudbury website. Projects recommended by the CPC will be presented at the May 2027 Annual Town Meeting.
The Community Preservation Act provides funding for qualifying projects in open space & recreation, historic preservation, and housing. The local CPC vets project proposals and puts articles forward for Town Meeting consideration.
Project applications should be submitted as soon as possible and no later than noon on Monday, September 14, 2026 according to the Town’s site. Full details are here.
To be considered for funding, applications cannot be cursory; they require a substantial level of detail and comprehensive documentation. The CPC application asks for applicants to demonstrate alignment with Town plans and to provide visuals, cost estimates, and execution timelines, among several other requirements.
The Community Preservation Act has provided over $50 million in funding for Sudbury projects since 2002. A local tax surcharge and a variable State match generate that revenue each year. Details here.

Sudbury has funded dozens of projects since joining the program. Details here. The projects approved by Town Meeting in May 2026 included artwork along the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail, designs for athletic fields at Davis Field and Broadacres Farm/Featherland, and improvements to the Haskell Field SMILE playground and nearby bathrooms. In total, Town Meeting approved over $2.7 million in CPA-qualified projects this year.
