The Sudbury Public Schools School Committee heard from Sudbury Education Association (SEA) president Melissa Morabito during their September 14 meeting. Morabito quoted a teacher:
“I was appreciative of the messages from our Interim Superintendent. She reminded us why Sudbury is a great place to work and shared how interesting our town is. I’ve worked here for over 20 years and no one has shared some of those facts. Our Interim Superintendent Annette Doyle not only had such [inaudible] that she clearly knows the hard work that we do, and she knows how to joke around about it too.”
The quote from Morabito concluded “They both made me feel like I’m in a place that is unique in its drive for education and history alike. I’m feeling inspired for a great school year.”
The message from the SEA is significant in light of the leadership changes that have rippled through the district in recent months. Doyle has been a key leader of the district for decades, but is the only leader in recent memory to garner this kind of enthusiastic praise from the teacher’s union.
